EMPLOYER NOMINATION SCHEME

SUBCLASS 186 (DIRECT ENTRY)

If you have a skill which is in demand in Australia, and an eligible Australian employer is willing to offer a job and nominate you, this visa provides a way for you to live and work in Australia permanently.

Introduction

The subclass 186 visa provides a way for skilled workers in specific occupations to live and work in Australia permanently.

The ‘Direct Entry’ stream requires a nomination from an eligible Australian employer, and that the occupation in question must appear on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations.

Applicants must have a job offer of 2 years or longer from the Australian employer.

Applicants are required to have a positive ‘skills assessment’, demonstrating that they have the skills and qualifications to
work in their nominated occupation; must be under 45 at the time of application; and  must have 3 years of post qualification work experience.

What are the eligibility requirements?

  • People under 45 who have a job offer for at least 2 years from an Australian employer 
  • People who have an occupation which is on the Core Skills Occupation List;
  • People being paid market rate of salary which is not below the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold;
  • People who have suitable qualifications for their occupation, a positive skills assessment and at least 3 years of post qualification work experience.

What will this visa provide?

  • Permanent residency of Australia
  • Medicare and certain Government benefits
  • Rights to work and study in Australia
  • Travel rights to and from Australia for five years
  • Opportunity to work towards Australian citizenship

Note: all costs marked in red must by law be met by the Employer &  cannot be passed on to the visa applicant. 

*If you manage your own skills assessment, the professional fee will be reduced by $1,000, to $4,200 + GST.
** Skilling Australians Fund levy is $3,000 if business turnover is less than $10 million, otherwise it’s $5,000.
